The AGN is seeking your assistance!
We are asking community to participate in a session aimed at gathering valuable insights for an upcoming exhibition.
Our focus is an exhibition of the AGN’s Inuit collection.
Participants will be shown images of works from the collection, together with names and terminology used in the exhibition, soliciting questions and answers. One of the objectives is to create awareness of Inuit history and culture in southern Ontario.
Much has changed politically and culturally since 1976 when the collection was given to the AGN. Canada repatriated its constitution, the political geography of Canada’s North was redrawn to recognize the Inuit homeland, the Inuit Nunangat, The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) issued its report in 2015. This exhibition is a response by the AGN to the TRC’s Calls to Action for museums.
Discussion held on Thursday, January 25 from 2 – 4 p.m, all ages welcome.
