Opportunity: AGN Saturday Studio Instructor

Salary: $30/hour

Position Summary

The Art Gallery of Northumberland (AGN) is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Saturday Studio Instructor to develop and implement the Saturday Studio program and other educational initiatives across Northumberland County. The Saturday Studio is a hands-on, creative workshop series designed to engage children, and teens, in artistic exploration, fostering a sense of creativity and community. This role will also support outreach initiatives and partnerships that enhance the AGN’s mission to make arts education accessible to all. The ideal candidate is passionate about arts education, has strong organizational skills, and thrives in a community-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Saturday Studio Program Development & Delivery

  • Design and implement a dynamic Saturday Studio program with engaging, hands-on art workshops for all age groups.
  • Facilitate workshops focusing on various artistic techniques and themes.
  • Ensure workshops align with AGN’s exhibitions, local cultural heritage, and contemporary art practices.
  • Maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment, encouraging participation from diverse community members.

Community Engagement & Partnerships

  • Build relationships with schools, libraries, community centers, and local artists to enhance program offerings.
  • Collaborate with guest artists, educators, and historians to provide unique learning experiences.
  • Represent AGN at public events, festivals, and community meetings to promote the Saturday Studio program and other initiatives.
  • Develop intergenerational programming that fosters connections between youth and seniors through shared creative experiences.

Logistics & Administration

  • Coordinate scheduling, venue bookings, and material preparation for workshops.
  • Manage program budgets, grant reporting, and tracking participation metrics.


Marketing & Communications

  • Promote the Saturday Studio program through social media, newsletters, and community bulletins.
  • Develop engaging content for educational resources and digital learning kits.
  • Gather feedback from participants to continuously improve and evolve program offerings.

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience:

  • Degree or diploma in Education, Fine Arts, Museum Studies, Community Engagement, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in arts education, cultural programming, or community outreach.

Skills:

  • Strong facilitation and public speaking abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience working with diverse age groups and community groups.
  • Proficiency in social media and digital content creation is an asset.

Other Requirements:

  • Flexible work schedule, including availability on Saturdays.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle preferred.
