Collections Management in Progress!

April 6, 2025

From April 1 – 28, 2025, the main exhibition space will be temporarily transformed as our team focuses on a collections management project. This important work is part of our ongoing efforts to care for and preserve the incredible artworks in our collection.

Visitors are still welcome to view current exhibtions,
Pete Doherty | Northumberland, March 8 – May 10
Greg McHarg | The Shape of Space, March 29 – May 31

While there won’t be a formal exhibition to view in our main space during this time, visitors are welcome to witness this fascinating process up close; think of it as a unique installation! We appreciate your understanding and look forward to sharing new exhibitions with you once our project is complete!

What does collections management mean?
For a Canadian, collecting public art gallery, collections management involves cataloging, preventative conservation, and ensuring the proper storage of artworks, as well as updating records and improving accessibility. It’s a behind-the-scenes process that ensures our collection remains in safe conditions and can be easily accessed for future exhibitions, research, and educational purposes. This is one of the many practices we adhere to as stewards of 1500 artworks from our community and beyond.
